Where it all began
The fascinating study of the structure and proportion of the Trajan alphabet in high school led Patrick Calello to a love typography and letter design. At fourteen, he began type-setting lyrics for rock albums on his new-to-the world Macintosh computer. By fifteen, he designed the logo-type for Atlantic Records triple-platinum recording artist White Lion.
By sixteen, he won the commission to design the logo-type for Tony award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes Broadway thriller Accomplice.
At seventeen, he enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University where he studied graphic design, industrial design and business. It was at Carnegie Mellon that the original concept for what would eventually become Automoblox was born.
Patrick has been consulting in industrial design, brand development and marketing for nearly 20 years as well as running the Automoblox business until its 2016 acquisition.
